Use an external site if you want to display a banner from the campaign on a site you do not own or do not have permission for the management of advertising space. All campaign controls (limits, targeting...) are on the site owner's side. External site and associated external codes allow the measurement of campaign results (impressions, clicks, unique users...) in your BB AdServer and also in the advertising system of the site. i.e.= it serves as independent counter. The codes of the external server are on sites where the advertising is displayed only for period of time when an advertising campaign is to be running.

An External site will not affect:

  • WHERE exactly an ad will be displayed
  • HOW often an ad will be displayed
  • to WHOM an ad will be displayed (e.g. regional, technological, PBT targeting...)
  • HOW MANY TIMES an ad will be displayed

In the plans defined on an external site, you can set the banner or tracking dot for recording the statistics. Therefore, in connection with the campaign on an external site we are talking about displaying code and/or measuring code.

If you are the site owner or you are authorized to the site administration, you  work mainly with  native sites in the system. An external site and external codes are used e.g. for measuring of direct mails or PR articles...
